Once again, what in the hell people eat, drink or ingest in Sweden? Is like almost every band that comes from there kicks ass, over the summer I was blown away by Crucified Barbara‘s new album, and recently the new Evocation album smacked me in the head, now Sister Sin‘s new album Now And Forever is just like receiving a kick in the balls while smiling about it.
Sister Sin is a hard rock/metal quartet formed almost 10 years ago in Gothenburg, Sweden, and has recorded 4 studio albums, and has been on tour with the likes of Motorhead, Arch Enemy, and U.D.O. They recently announced their return to North American soil next February as main support for DORO. Their new album Now And Forever was released last Tuesday via Victory Records, and is full of attitude and good old kick ass hard rock and heavy metal.
Now And Forever opens with MMXII (2012 in Roman numerals) a small intro that leads you right to their video clip song End Of The Line, a total hard rock song full of fast riffs and a really catchy melody. Fight Song is the real deal on this album, a full of attitude and rebellious metal anthem that in the voice of Liv let you know that Sister Sin is here to kick your ass back to oblivion. In It For Life continues with the same attitude as the previous song the only thing that changed is the level of badassery which reaches new highs with this song. Hearts Of Cold is a kind of party and head banging song that has really cool riffs, and again Liv‘s voice is powerful and aggressive as fuck.
The Chosen Few is a more melodic song not that fast but not that slow either really chilled and catchy. Hang ‘Em High and I Am Not You are songs a bit more mellow, still really good songs, but are more rock and roll than metal. Running Low & Shades Of Black will get you back to the fast and angry attitude of the album full of sharp guitar riffs and aggressive drums and vocals. Morning After is a song that it has all the elements of an 80’s ballad in the vein of Lita Ford or early DORO.
Overall Now And Forever shows a more mature Sister Sin, full of angry, attitude and truly represents what heavy metal is all about. The voice and powerful character of Liv delivers a really upfront and in your face middle finger that tells you that Sister Sin is the new heavy metal outlaw in town.
