The Norwegian quartet of Keep Of Kalessin, has been around the metal scene longer than you might think, During the 90’s they were passive actors on the rise of the Norwegian black metal scene that shocked the world with their extreme music by that time. With a constant change of members through the years that ended up with the current line up being the definitive one. Keep Of Kalessin released Armada in 2007, and then Kolossus in 2008, when the band landed a deal with Nuclear Blast. The band got more compact and experienced through the years as you can listen on their latest record Reptilian (2010).
They are currently touring the United States with fellow country men Mayhem, and Polish black metal band HATE. Last Monday they put a hell of a good show at the 910 Club in Tempe,AZ. I missed them at the end of last year when they toured the US, so this time i wasn’t going to miss them again. They set was astonish and I loved their stage presence, no make up, no theatricals, pure and extreme black metal, they even played a new song of their new record due on October 2012.
We had the chance to sit and talk with Obsidian C guitar player and founder of the band about the tour, the state of the band, and their plans. This is what he said:
How has been the tour so far?
Last year you released your 5th studio album Reptilian, for those who haven’t listen to it yet, what can you tell us about the album?
How was the writing process for Reptilian? And what are the main differences between Kolossus and Reptilian?
After all the line up changes in Keep Of Kalessin, and after releasing 2 albums, do you think that this is the right line up for the music that Keep of Kalessin wants to create?
A couple of years back you participated on the famous European music competition Eurovision held on Norway, making your way through to the finals and being the first Heavy Metal band to reach a 3rd place on the contest. How did you get involved on Eurovision? and how was the experience of playing on Eurovision?
Last tour you were blogging about the things that happened on the tour and the life on the road. What happen with the blog? why did you stop blogging?
Is Keep Of Kalessin working on a new album? and if you do, what can you tell us about it?
You started doing music back in the 90’s when the norwegian black metal scene was happening, how do you see the black metal scene now in contrast with what it was back in the 90’s?
What is next for Keep Of Kalessin?
