Ah, The Faceless. What isn’t there to say about them? Since their release of Planetary Duality in 2008, they’ve become one of the most recognized bands in metal. They’ve gone from a relatively unknown tech metal band to one of the strongest forces in extreme American metal, playing direct support to Devildriver during the Metal Alliance Tour this year.
To be honest, I was kind of worried on how their live performance was going to be. The lineup is almost entirely new in regards to 2008, with a new guitarist, bassist, and vocalist. However, their live performance has only gotten better and more tight. This makes me incredibly happy, and I know full well I’m not the only fan in the audience who agreed that night. Their upcoming release is one of the most anticipated albums of the year, and if their performance of a new song from it during Metal Alliance is any indication, it’s going to be a killer record.
We got the opportunity to talk to Michael Keene, the longtime lead guitarist. The interview is below.
