Talk about Max Cavalera is talk about a down to earth heavy metal legend, and a family man. He not only leaded Sepultura in the 80’s and early 90’s, and put the South American metal scene in the global context at that time. After his departure from Sepultura he created Soulfly a metal band based on Thrash, Nu and Death metal elements that with the time became one of the most celebrate and diverse bands in the international metal scene today.
Most recently, Max joined forces with his brother Igor Cavalera after putting behind a long family feud that separate them for over a decade. The result of that reunion was Cavalera Conspiracy, a project that has its roots in hardcore and thrash metal. Once you listen to it, you can tell the musical chemistry of the Cavalera brothers still there, and today’s still as brutal as it was 30 years ago.
The Age Of Metal had the chance to speak with Max Cavalera during Soulfly‘s stop in Tempe,AZ last week as they played the D-Low Memorial show. We talked about Enslaved the latest Soulfly album, the current tour, Cavalera Conspiracy, his upcoming autobiography, and his family musical legacy.
