Liv Kristine Espenæs has been one of the finest voices in metal during the last 15 years, not only she had an active role during the rise of the Female Fronted Metal movement with Theater Of Tragedy back in the 90’s, and later with her participation along with her husband Alex Krull on the folk metal band Leaves Eyes. She also had four solo albums added to her discography since 1998.
Her last one is called Libertine, and it will be released this September 4th in the US, and September 7th in Europe. The album is different at what she has done with Leaves Eyes so far. With Libertine Liv Kristine revisits her roots during her time in Theater Of Tragedy, the album is a mix between rock, metal, electronic and gothic elements that were key on the sound of Theater Of Tragedy in the late 90’s
The Age Of Metal had the chance to speak with Liv Kristine about Libertine, the writing process, the people involved on it, Wacken Open Air 2012, and what is the current state of Leaves Eyes.
