Interview with Jeff Loomis

Talk about Jeff Loomis is talk about one of the greatest guitar players of the 21st century, If the 80’s belonged to Yngwie Malmsteen and Randy Rhoads, and the 90’s were rule by Zack Wylde and Tom Morello, Is not doubt these decade belong to Jeff Loomis. After make a his mark in music with Nevermore, and record a his first solo album Zero Order Phase in 2008. Jeff Loomis returns this year with a new album.

Plains Of Oblivion is a total attack of guitar awesomeness, this album is quite different from his first solo album Zero Order Phase, is more aggressive and more technical. The album is connected with today’s metal sound and is full with diverse technical elements. The musicians invited by Jeff Loomis on this album are top-notch, from Marty Friedman, Chris Poland both ex-Megadeth, Ihsahn (ex- Emperor) and Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork) just to mention some of them.

A couple of weeks ago Jeff Loomis played the Club Red here in Tempe,AZ as part of a tour supporting Protest The Hero and Periphery, A tour that personally speaking, I would prefer see him headlining. His show was amazing, powerful and he played a lot of material of his new album.

here are some of the pictures we took at that show.

The Age Of Metal had the chance to talk with Jeff Loomis about Plains Of Oblivion, the tour, and his future plans.
