Wintersun is one of those bands that you would never dream to see in a North American tour line up, But I guess dreams do come true. After 8 years of their debut album Wintersun, ;the band had return this year to the international spotlight with a shiny new album that took 6 years in the making.
Time I since it’s announcement back in 2006 had acquire, the fame to be one of the greatest albums in epic metal history, and to be fair the 43 minutes and 57 seconds of music packed in this album are really fucking epic. After many delays of technical nature the album saw the light of day on October 19th. In September was announced that Wintersun was touring North America along with Swiss Folk metal band Eluvietie and German Pagan metal band Varg.
Last night me and a couple hundred Arizona metalheads were treated with almost an hour of epic music as Wintersun played a great deal of their new album (When Time Fades Away, Sons Of Winter And Stars, Land Of Snow And Sorrow, Time) and old stuff from their first album (Beyond The Dark Sun, Winter Madness, Starchild, and a couple or other songs)
The Age Of Metal had the chance to sit down and talk with ;Teemu Mäntysaari (guitar) and ;Jukka Koskinen (bass) of Wintersun before the band got on stage here in Tempe, AZ at 910 Live Club. We talked about their expectations ;for this first North American tour, Time I, the idea behind the album, Time II, and what is next for the band in 2013.
