Is not a secret that the UK is the birthplace of many important metal bands, from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden, and from to Carcass to Dragonforce. But since 2005 the UK has seen the rise of five kids called The Defiled, and they had turned heads right and left ever since.
Starting as a goth/industrial project, The Defiled gained success by touring hard in the UK until the release of their EP 1888 in 2009, then the released of their first studio album Grave Times as a free bonus on Metal Hammer magazine. By July 2011 the band was headlining the Jagermeister stage at Sonisphere and opened the main stage at Bloodstock festival that same year, and were nominated for a Golden Gods award in the category Best New British Band.
In 2012 they started a PledgeTheMusic campaign with the purpose of funding the recording of their second album, within a week the band had reached their goal. The album was recorded at the Audio Hammer studios in Florida with producer Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver, Trivium). In March 2013, the band signed with Nuclear Blast Entertainment for the release of Daggers this upcoming August 2nd in Europe, August 5th in the UK, and August 6th in North America.
At the moment, The Defiled is touring the United States for the first time with Davey Suicide and The Bunny The Bear. They opened their tour here in Tempe, AZ at the remodeled Havana Cabana (previous Rocky Point Cantina) last Friday. They pretty much brought the house down, and presented a couple of tracks from their upcoming album Daggers. At the end of the night people keep talking about their show, and how surprised they were with their high energy even at 100 degrees weather.
The Age Of Metal had the chance to chat with Stitch (Guitar and Vocals) & The A.v.D (Programing and Keyboards) of The Defiled hours previous to their tour opening show at Havana Cabana in Tempe, AZ last Friday. We talk about the tour, Daggers, the band, their touring experiences and much more.
