Last April Chicago’s melodic death metal force Starkill released their album Fires Of Life, the perfect mixture of the most notorious European metal bands. From influences that goes from Children Of Bodom and Nightwish to Dragonforce and Amon Amarth.
Since the released of Fires Of Life, Starkill has toured a lot this year. First with Krisiun and Arsis at the beginning of the year, and most recently supporting Wintersun, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Arsis on their North American summer trek. The show presented by Starkill at Joe’s Grotto in Phoenix, AZ last week was metal as fuck, from the amazing guitar skills on stage that warmed he crowd at the beginning of the evening, to their own frontman Parker Jamenson raging among fans in the front line during the Wintersun set. This is something you don’t often see on a band member from a supporting act, because they regularly play their set, break down & put away their gear, then go to the bar and have a a couple drinks, or head straight back to their bus or van to rest before leaving the city.
Before their set we had the pleasure to chat again with Parker Jamenson guitar player and vocalist of Starkill. We talked about the tour, their influences, the response of Fires Of Life, what is next for them and much more.
