The Southwest Terror Fest is a two-day festival covering the best of Arizona’s metal scene with some of the best bands from the underground playing in an intimate setting over two days in Tucson, AZ. The Age of Metal is partnering with the folks from The Southwest Terror Fest to give you a primer of all of the bands playing. Today we look at prog/doomers Methra…
Where are you from?
We hail from Tucson, Arizona.
What do you sound like?
Where’s Waldo, if Waldo was replaced with a shirtless Matt Pike + Heavy.
How did you get involved with Southwest Terror Fest?
We put out a 10″ split with Godhunter in the past, and David asked us to play.
What do you think of Arizona’s metal crowd in general?
They could be heavier.
What’s the most ridiculous thing that’s happened to your band?
Kyle, our vocalist naps through most recording sessions.
How has your sound changed over time?
We originally sounded like slower bad crowbar, now less so with more songs about dendrochronology.
What’s the one thing you’re looking forward to the most at the fest?
A ton of bands, in 2 days.
What band do you recommend seeing aside from yourselves?
Toad and Twingiant, grim and heavy space jams.
Is there a place we can hear your music online?
Our newest 5 song EP is available to download for free at Methra.bandcamp.com
