Shane Blay of WovenWar talked to us about the new album, music, and touring life.

The up and coming Wovenwar, formed in 2013 out of San Diego, California. The band consists of the members of As I Lay Dying, Nick Hipa as lead guitarist, Phil Sgrosso programming and rhythm guitar, Josh Gilbert bass/back up vocals and Jordan Mancino on drums. After the incarceration of  As I Lay Dying‘s front man Tim Lambesis,  the members began writing with Shane Blay, guitarist of Oh!Sleeper as their new vocalist. By 2014, WovenWar released their first self titled album with Metal Blade Records and began touring. Supporting bands like Black Label Society, and currently opening for Periphery on their album release of Juggernaut Alpha/Omega tour, which ends February 14th. However, within that week, WovenWar will be back on the road again with In Flames and All that Remains.

Performing after Thank You Scientist‘s set, the members of WovenWar took the stage. The crowd pushed to the front of the gate, chanting and whistling for a good 20 some odd minutes before the lights finally went on. Woven War introduced themselves as “The Technical Difficulties” with about 10 minutes left of stage time. You could defiantly see the disappointment and frustration of the band as they opened with their hit All Will Rise but with the undying love and support of their fans belting out every lyric, the show went on.

We got a chance to talk to frontman Shane Blay before the show started. It doesn’t seem like these guys have a whole lot of time for themselves these days, so I tried to make the interview as quick as possible. In the video, we talk about touring, Blay‘s  inspirations, thoughts on todays current music trends and the feedback of As I Lay Dying fans vs. Oh!Sleeper fans.
