Philip H. Anselmo is a man who has conquered, and will continue to conquer, so much in his career and in his personal life. Talking to him was intimidating, at the least, but he was truly awesome.
His solo project – Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals released Walk Through Exits Only on 7/16/13 from none other than Housecore Records. Songs like Battalion of Zero are filled with riffs that you wouldn’t expect, they just climb right into the song and make your jaw drop. Betrayed has concepts that smack you in the face like a reality check. It all has a very honest and unapologetically angry sound, with a hint of southern sludge. It has real life experience written into it, and that in itself is genuine and something that stands out as an original.
We got a chance to talk to Philip about The Illegals, Down, Housecore Records and the Housecore Horror Festival, his thoughts on the music industry today, and much more.
Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals are now on the road with Author and Punisher and Hymns. They will bring The Technicians of Distortion tour to Pub Rock in Scottsdale, AZ on Friday, January 24th.
