Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost discussed The Plague Within

DIMMU BORGIR - Interdimensional Summit

PL2

Paradise Lost is releasing their 14th studio album titled The Plague WIthin, and after 27 years of great music this English gentlemen still on top of their game, the album is a bomb of doomy, melancholic, and gothic goodness from beginning to end. The album itself reflects the band’s maturity, and at the same time it resemblance the new musical horizons that their members had reached.

It’s important to point out that the doom/death metal vibe in some parts of the album might or might not be caused because of Greg Mackintosh‘s work with Vallenfyre, or Nick Holmes‘s vocal work on Bloodbath. But, one thing if certain, and that is; how those musical projects had spilled into the sound of Paradise Lost on The Plague Within, It’s impossible to ignored the doom riffs that are presented on songs like; Beneath Broken Earth, Flesh From Bone, or Punishment Through Time.
Or how the growling vocals on No Hope In Sight, Terminal, then again how this growling vocals showed up on Beneath Broken Earth & Flesh From Bone.

The Plague Within presents itself as a very dynamic album with a lot of new element that enhance the Paradise Lost experience, and give a dense texture to their music, and make of it one of the best albums released so far this year.

The Age Of Metal had the chance to talk with Nick Holmes vocalist of Paradise Lost about the musical style of The Plague Within, how the external elements affected the album’s outcome, his comments on the record, touring plans, and more.
