Whether it is black metal, post-metal or shoegazing, whatever genre Alcest touches is a guaranteed win. The intellect behind Alcest is a man named Neige. His music is nothing less than brilliant and can only be described as a journey, or an experience. In support of their 2012 release Les Voyages de L’Âme (The Journeys of the Soul) as well as their upcoming album, Shelter (2014), Alcest sailed the seas to tour North America.
Alcest along with co-headliners Anathema and supporting act Mamiffer, embarked on almost a month-long stretch with the last show of ending in Tempe, AZ. Lucky for us here at The Age of Metal as Tempe is our hometown. So, we packed up our cameras and ventured to The Marquee Theater. Make sure to check out our interview with Anathema from the show and swing by the photo gallery for pictures of the show.
Alcest definitely stole the spotlight that evening. Their stage presence complimented their musical dynamics which created an intoxicating milieu. They performed a few songs of their upcoming album, Shelter (2014) including Deliverance. Their set list delineated Alcest‘s ever-evolving sound and left their signature ‘gaze’ over the crowd.
Alcest frontman, Neige was kind enough to talk with The Age of Metal after their set. Neige was one of the kindest person I have ever met, and that really goes for the entire band as well. Check out the interview below.
