Last time Motörhead came to town last year promoting their latest record The World Is Yours. I was unable to see them, so when Gigantour 2012 rolled into town last Saturday February 25th I wasn’t going to miss them this time around. I got to the Comerica Theater in Downtown Phoenix around 6:30 pm right on time to catch Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil who opened the show, follow by Danish metal band Volbeat. After seeing the European quota of the tour I was ready for some rock and roll.
Motörhead took the stage around 8:30 pm opening with the 1979 classic Bomber out of the album under the same name, it was like being hit by a nuclear explosion. I forgot how loud Motörhead plays. They continued with Damage Case out of the Overkill album also of 1979. By this time the crowd was really animated and the house was full. The following song was I know How To Die from their latest album The World Is Yours, then they sent us back to Overkill with Stay Clean, followed by Over The Top out of their Best of Motörhead album.
The euphoria of the crowd was in the air, as Lemmy announce The Chase is Better Than The Catch out of the Ace Of Spades album, followed by The One To Sing The Blues from the 1991 album “1916” after the song finished the stage was occupy by the man behind the drums Mikkey Dee, who performed a great drum solo that received a big ovation by the public . The rest of the band came back to the stage to performed Going To Brazil, Kill By Death, Ace Of Spades, and Overkill. to close up a great rock and roll show by the only one, Motörhead.
Here is some pictures we took from their show last night
