Letting the Hammer Fall: A conversation with Oscar Dronjak of Hammerfall

HFAfter two years of rest and gathering of strength, the Templars of metal, Hammerfall had returned. This time they brought a new album with them. (r)EVOLUTION, which is the return to the basic sound of the band, that epic trademark sound that the band created with albums like Glory Of The Brave, Legacy Of Kings or Renegade

With (r)EVOLUTION not only Hammerfall brought back that sound so characteristic of them during the early years, but they also brought back important collaborations, like cover artist Andreas Marschall, who was the creator of the hammer-wielding mascot, Hector (the Templar of Steel, Who after a long deserved rest returns to the front cover of the Hammerfall album), and well-known producer Fredrik Nordström (who produced Hammerfall‘s first two albums)

Hammerfall succeed on presenting a straight forward heavy metal record, with the soul and punch that only they know how to deliver. Songs like Hector’s Hymn, Live Life Loud, and Bushido are the best examples of how heavy and epic this album is.

Recently, The Age Of Metal had the chance to speak with Oscar Dronjak, guitar player and founder member of Hammerfall. We talk about (r)EVOLUTION, what the band did during their two-year break, their new Whiskey ‘Legacy Of Kings‘, his participation on Ceremonial Oath last year, and what is next for the band.
