Children of Bodom is about to celebrate 20 years of extreme music and it seems they are preparing a special tour to celebrate that. This Finnish band first called the attention of the metal world back on 1997 when they released their first album titled Something Wild, their sound, and aggressiveness was different from any other metal band at the time, the way they incorporated the keyboards and the guitar sound became unique and quite difficult to follow up by any other band.
This year Children Of Bodom visited the US twice as they came as part of the Megadeth tour last march and recently on their own headlining tour. Both times we got so see some material from their latest album I Worship Chaos (2015), even though their visit to AZ last March was short, this time around we got a longer visit when they played at the Pressroom at the beginning of the month.
Their show was a mix of everything as we got new songs like My Bodom (I Am the Only One), Morrigan, and I Worship Chaos, but also classics like Hate Me, Every time I Die, and Bodom After Midnight to name some. We hope to see more of Children Of Bodom as part of their 20 year anniversary here in the US, as regardless of the great job they do putting together a mixed setlist it would be great to hear a more classic set for their next visit.
Before their show at The Pressroom in Phoenix we talked to keyboardist Janne Wirman of Children of Bodom about the band’s headlining tour, their 20 year anniversary, their fans and even their experience playing The Bataclan in Paris one week before the tragic attacks.
