Talk about Borknagar is mention one of the oldest institutions on Norwegian metal history formed back in 1998 with members of Gorgoroth, Immortal, Enslaved, Ulver & Arcturus. the band was a new proposal to the metal scene of Norway, that at the time was still saturated by black metal bands wanted to follow the steps of Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum or Emperor. But Borknagar had something different on mind a blend between Progressive, Black and by the time barely known Folk metal, all within a concept based on nature and ancient norse culture and mythology.
14 years had pass since Borknagar‘s first record, and now in 2012 they are back with their 9th studio album URD, a well balanced album that breaks apart from what they did on their last album Universe. The Age Of Metal had the chance to talk with Øystein G. Brun guitar player and founder member of the band. We talked about the new album, their line up changes, and what is coming up for Borknagar.
