Blasting drum beats, sharp guitar riffs, and one of the most ‘in your face’ voices out there. That is how I can describe the Swedish quartet Crucified Barbara that last Wednesday played at Joe’s Grotto in Phoenix, AZ as part of their first ever North American tour.
I discovered the music of Crucified Barbara last year with their third album The Midnight Chase, and from beginning to end this album just blew my mind. So when they announced their North American tour as direct support for Swedish hard rock band Crashdiet, I knew I had to be there. They took the stage around 9 pm playing songs from their new album The Midnight Chase (The Crucified, Rock Me Like The Devil, Into The Fire, Everything We Need, and If I Hide) The voice of Mia Coldheart and the guitar talent of Klara Force were just incredible that people started rushing to the front to see what these Swedish ladies were all about.
Ida Evileye on bass guitar and Nicki Wicked on drums were fabulous too, a real example of professional musicianship for all of us at their show. They also played a couple of great songs from their previous album Til Death Do Us Party (Jennyfer & Sex Action) that sounded better than on the album I must say. Indeed it was a great show, indeed people love them, and of course we wanted to come back hopefully in a full headlining tour.
Before the show we had the chance to sit and talk to Crucified Barbara about their tour, the upcoming version of The Midnight Chase in vinyl, and what are their plans for the rest of the year.
