Well known guitar player Gus G (Firewind & Ozzy Osbourne) released his first solo album I Am The Fire early this year. The album is a complex hard rock album that features several musical collaborations and guest appearances, the result of the album is an array of diverse musical textures, that takes you deep in the inner musical psyche of Gus G. I Am The Fire, comes of as chill album full of songs that have nothing to do with what Gus G have done with Firewind or Ozzy, but it reflects his own musical adventures.
After releasing the album, Gus G took the time to tour Europe spreading the shredding word of this first solo masterpiece. Later this year it was confirmed that he was doing a handful of dates in the West Coast. We were lucky enough to see one of those dates here in Arizona, this past Sunday (10/14). For this mini tour Gus G invited Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), Marty O’ Brien (bass guitar) & Joan Nunes (drums), the result was a full 90 minutes of musical goodness. Even though our date was a Sunday night it was enough crowd to check it out.
We experienced close and personal songs like; My Will Be Done, Blame it On Me, Summer Days, Vengeance, Wrath, I Am The Fire, along with a couple Firewind songs (World Of Fire & The Fire And The Fury). Their set was good, and the response of the crowd was very positive.
Before his show, we had the chance to chat with Gus G about this tour, the musicians involved on it, I Am The Fire, the fans reaction towards the album, and an update on what is going on with Firewind and Ozzy Osbourne.
