Grutle Kjellson of Enslaved talked about RIITIIR with The Age Of Metal

Enslaved is back with their 12th studio album…RIITIIR! With the new release, they not only show that the 2 year wait was worth it, but that they are one of the most well-known Black Metal bands for a reason.

When formed in 1991, they played straight up raw, fist clenching Black Metal. Over the years however, they have invited a “Viking Metal” presence to their music, and have made every album an epic of it’s own. Their newest installment is the culmination of over 20 years of progression and musical evolution. RIITIIR is one of those albums that can’t truly be put into words, and should instead be listened to (immediately).

The Age of Metal had the chance to talk with Grutle Kjellson about the new album, the meaning of the name RIITIIR, a future North American tour, and more. We also found out that he loves Rush, which only heightens his already high level of badassery.
