Devil You Know is wrapping up a successful début tour in the US as supporting act for Black Label Society. What started as a fun project to jam some riffs and write some music, soon developed into a huge supergroup that not only is running for the spot of best album of the summer, but it also brought back Howard Jones (ex-Killswitch Engage) out of retirement, and back into the spotlight.
Devil You Know, released their début album The Beauty Of Destruction during the last week of April, and it landed #3 on the Billboard Hard Music chart the following week. Which is quite impressive for a début album by a new band, and many will argue the ‘supergroup’ thing having to do with it. But the truth is that the success of this band is due to the work of the each one of them, and what they had brought to the table. And how they developed a strong connection with their fans through the singles they put out before the entire album was out.
The Beauty Of Destruction features slow and heavy songs that relate to the life and experiences of singer Howard Jones. Some of the songs say more than others, but all have a story to tell. Examples like; As Bright As The Darkness, A New Beginning, and Seven Years Alone, are some of those songs that let you see the inner side of a guy like Howard Jones.
Not content with releasing a strong début album, Devil You Know seems to have more material for a second or even a third album, and are hungry for more touring even after a month and half US tour with Black Label Society. During their stop in Tempe, AZ a couple of days ago, we spoke with guitar player and founding member Franchesco Artusato. We talked about The Beauty Of Destruction, their experience touring with BLS, and their plans for a following up record.
