The thing about the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise is that sometimes the last minute announcements ended up being the most impressive ones , this year bands like Arkona, Novembers Doom, Starkill, and Nervosa were some of the last bands to make it to the impressive line up aboard 70000 Tons, and at the same time some of the ones people got more excited about.
With that in mind, one of the bands that delivered an energizing first show, which led to being everyone’s talking point was the Brazilian thrash metal trio Nervosa, who happened to be finishing the last touches for their upcoming album in California at the time they received the invitation to be part of 70000 Tons. Their style could be traced back to the bay area style thrash metal, with a bit of Kreator/Sodom going on, but with that Sepultura iconic hunger for conquering the world.
By the end of the cruise and after their second show at Studio B these three girls were already boat celebrities, as everyone wanted to talk to them, buy them a drink or take a picture with them. At least, that’s what I saw during the Bloodbath set as they were trying to put attention to the masters of Swedish death metal, but the wave of fans keep coming one after the other.
The Age Of Metal had the chance to chat with Nervosa for a bit about their cruise experience, the people’s reaction to their show, their new album, and their current US tour.
