Classic rock and funk-inspired Brooklyn progressive metal collective FAMILY shares the first sampling from new album “Future History” (being released 7/15 on PROSTHETIC RECORDS) — debut single “Day Vision” (streaming via Revolver Magazine HERE or directly above) which combines a rich foundation of fierce metallic might with rootsy drumming straight out of The Meters and Thin Lizzy-style guitarmonies icing this diverse cake.

The song depicts a climactic battle from the album’s story of an apocalyptic war between a divided human race, a path that Earth may in fact be currently foreshadowing.  Building off the rich experiential songwriting style revealed on “Portrait” (the band’s lush debut album), “Future History” stirs tension into the pot by incorporating unexpectedly orchestrated interludes and cinematic voiceovers, following cues from the screenplay that the album is based on.

The brainchild of NYC musician/filmmaker/MetalSucks writer Steven Gordon, FAMILY showcases its unique style with an earnest blend of Southern-y heaviness and deceptively intricate yet surprisingly accessible rhythmic patterns, alongside a healthy dose of behind-the-beat New Orleans groove.

“Future History” reunites “Portrait” engineer/mixer Justin Mantooth and mastering engineer Alan Douches (Mastodon, Baroness, Torche), with Gordon again producing.  The album also features guest appearances from David Castillo (Primitive Weapons, White Widows Pact, booker at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar), Jesse James Madre (Tiger Flowers), and Mike Keller (Meek Is Murder).
