Eyes Set To Kill talked to us about touring, South America, and Masks

ESTK7-1Eyes Set To Kill could be considered one of the most representative bands that had come out of the Phoenix, AZ area. This guys and girls had been a total rock sensation since their teenage début back in 2006 with their EP When Silence is Broken, the Night is Torn, their music style has shifted from a hardcore with screamo vocals towards a more hard rock style represented on what they did in their latest album Masks (2013).

After the released of the album last year, the band have toured relentlessly across North America since the beginning of 2014. They were part of the Revolver’s Hottest Chicks On Metal along with Lacuna Coil and Sick Puppies, followed by tours with The Gemini Syndrome, The Relapse Symphony, and recently a series of headlining shows that allowed them to expand more their set and show case more of their latest album.

In July they were forced to stop & cancel a good number of shows, as bass player Anissa Rodriguez was rushed into the hospital and treated for a blood clot that developed behind her left eye. After a well deserved rest & care, the band got back to the road and did several headlining shows, and now is gearing up to their South American tour that will begin at the end of November.

Last Friday night, they played a headlining set at Joe’s Grotto in Phoenix, AZ, their show was definitely a quality upgrade (sound quality and venue wise from their last show in Scottsdale, AZ last March), even though their set was really good, at the end it felt like it was a too short for a hometown show. After the set they were cool enough to do an open meet and greet with fans and sign cd’s and posters till the venue closed its doors.

Before their show, The Age Of Metal  had a chat with Alexia, Anissa & Caleb of Eyes Set To Kill. In the conversation we talked about their heavy touring year, Anissa’s emergency back in July, Alexia’s guest vocals on the new Gus G album, their expectations of touring South American at the end of the month, and a couple of surprises they will announce later.
