After being around for almost a decade Eyes Set To Kill released their 4th studio album titled Masks yesterday, this album breaks them apart from what they had done before, but keeps and raises the band’s trademark sound to a whole different level.
Masks more than an album is a statement of independence, and self reassurance from the band to the music world. With songs like Infected, Lost And Forgotten, and Where I Want To Be the band reflects the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter on their own history. This album shows the band on a healthy mood, and more in charge of their own than ever before. The album is fast, melodic and with a twist of darkness on it.
Last night the band played a show at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ, I went down there to check them out, as after living 10 years in the valley every chance I had to see them in the past for some reason it always just slipped between my fingers. So last night I grab my camera and recorder and I went down there to see them play.
Eyes Set To Kill got on stage around 9:20 pm and they played their new album Masks on its entirely. The crowd was quite excited to hear the new songs, and the band delivered an awesome show too, as the songs sounded tight and elaborated. I specially liked the live versions of Little Liar and Infected, the have more power live than in the record.
Before the show I had the chance to seat and discuss the ideas behind Masks with Eyes Set To Kill, We also talked about their upcoming tour with Scar The Martyr, and their experience in Mexico at the beginning of the year.
