German/Dutch quintet Xandria recently finished their first ever US Headlining tour, a tour that took them to revisit places they played along with Sonata Arctica and Delain back in 2014, and to discovered new cities and fans across the US. It was a risky move to headline a tour in the US after their first ever US tour back in 2014, but it seems they pulled through fine and delivered powerful shows at every venue they played.
Xandria released their seventh studio album titled Theater of Dimensions early this year, and have been actively touring in Europe and North America and are currently participating in different Summer festivals around Europe. Xandria‘s shows are always fun, but what was interesting about the show at Club Red in Mesa, AZ was that it was their last of the tour and the last one in the US, so the typical band pranks were expected which added a special atmosphere to the show itself.
Besides that special characteristic, Xandria played a selected set list that included a handful of songs from Theater of Dimensions including, Where the Heart Is Home, Call of Destiny, Forsaken Love, We Are Murderers (We All), Burn Me and Death to the Holy. But the rest of their set was a trip throughout all their discography including songs like; Euphoria, Nightfall, Cursed, Voyage of the Fallen, The Undiscovered Land, Stardust, Ravenheart & Valentine.
Before the show, we had the pleasure of speaking with Dianne van Giersbergen, vocalist of Xandria about the band’s North American headlining tour, their new album Theater of Dimensions, her band Ex Libris and much more.
