On Monday October 21 Deicide came to Pheonix Arizona at Joes Grotto, on the No Salvation Tour the supporting line up was Necronomicon, Disgorge & Broken Hope. It was a jammed packed bill and a totally amazing show. Every single band put on a great show considering it was a Monday night.
A bit of black metal from Canada started off the night when the boys from Necronomicon played. It was their long-awaited return after a few years of not playing in the state of Arizona. They really pumped things up and set the mood for Disgorge & Broken Hope. Both bands were great to see live and considering it was the first time Broken Hope has been on a tour in the last few years they made a statement with their “return” show to Phoenix. You could really feel a the energy and positive vibes and glowing aura from the guys. Such big smiles on their faces you could tell they were thrilled to be playing and played every musical note with a passion.
No matter how many times you’ve seen Deicide they never disappoint. Right before hitting the stage Steve (drummer) was incredible enough to shake fans hands . Still after so many years its nice to see how humble some musicians are. Finally it was the moment we all had waited of course they wasted no time in being brutal and opened the show with Homage for Satan. Their set list was pretty killer to say the least. Old, new pretty much nothing was off-limits. Glen seemed to be in a good mood as well joking around and making fun of the crowd. It was nice to see some of his sarcastic humor and some what of a grin on his face. Steve was a beast behind his set, Glen was the Satanic front man we all know and love. The pit was a decent size and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Deicide just has something special about them and watching their performance here in the desert we all know as Phoenix. It was an incredible way to spend some a Monday night. It was great to see a death metal band like Deicide who has been around for decades still draw in a crowd and blow you away with their performance.
