David Ellefson of Megadeth discussed Dystopia & NAMM 2016

DEYou always meet really cool people when you go to NAMM. This year I met one of the most legendary musicians in metal, Dave Ellefson of Megadeth. Being one of the iconic thrash bands, they’re still going strong today with new album Dystopia.

With their roots deeply planted in the ground, planting new seeds is always a challenge. But if there’s a band that can discover new lands having already conquered so many, that band is Megadeth.

Along with the new album, they already have a long list of touring schedules for 2016. America and Europe will be able to ban together in Dystopia. And with David Ellefson behind new bands such as Doll Skin, their legacy continues under other influences. Something everyone can learn from the classics is how they were able to maintain influence over a fanbase for decades. Amongst the grit and aggression, there’s something that brings all metal fans together and a band like Megadeth helped make that happen.

We talked with David Ellefson at NAMM 2016. In the interview, we discuss NAMM gear, the writing of Dystopia, and his work with Doll Skin.
