Chris Bowes of Alestorm & Gloryhammer checked in with The Age Of metal

Patience and hard work are not common words among pirates, but in the case of Scottish pirate metal band Alestorm these two factors can be considered the key of their global success.

Alestorm is now on their first ever headlining tour since they first played in American soil almost 4 years ago (remember Heidenfest 2009), they have been a supporting act for so long, that it was about time their audience demanded a headlining tour. So this time around they are touring with Trollfest & Gypsyhawk as opening acts. Last week we had the pleasure to see them live as they played their second date of the tour at Joe’s Grotto in Phoenix, AZ, the turn around as expected was fantastic, and as tradition on an Alestorm show it was a full-blown party, from drunken mosh pits to sing/scream along entire songs.

Their 90 minutes set included songs like The Sunk’N Norwegian, Shipwreck, Midget Saw, Nancy The Tavern Wench, Keelhauled, Captain Morgan Revenge, Rum & Set Sail & Conquer. Also, a new song called Surf Squid Warfare from their upcoming album has been premiered on this tour, and for the first time they played In The Navy, a cover of the famous song by The Village People, that appears on their new DVD ‘Live At The End Of The World‘. It was drunken singing, drunken mosh pits, and a night of sinful piracy that the crowd highly enjoyed, as each band put a hell of a show, but Alestorm sounded was tight, fierce and louder that ever before.

Before the show The Age Of Metal had the chance to speak with Captain Christopher Bowes about their headlining tour, their new live DVD, Gloryhammer, and of course when we will see another pirate metal masterpiece by Alestorm.
