Ardek of Carach Angren talked to us about touring North America and their upcoming album

Since I got to listen the début album, Lammendam (2008) for the first time, the ghostly dutch trio Carach Angren got my attention. Right from the start, their style is different to any other symphonic black metal band out there, even though they used almost the same stage presence, their music and attitude of Carach Angren sets them apart for the regular pack.

So, when I heard that Carach Angren was part of the package supporting Deicide on their North American tour this year, I was more than excited. So, last Sunday night I got the pleasure to finally see them live as they played at Joe’s Grotto here in Phoenix, AZ. Their show was, well received from beginning to end, and I must admit they have quite large fan base here in the valley, and from what i heard around the rest of the country too.
Now, their set was really short, but it was the perfect sampler of their three studio albums. we got to hear songs like; Haunting Echoes From The Seventeen Century & The Carriage Wheel Murder out of the Lammendam album, and Bloodstains In The Captain Log out of the Death Came Through A Phantom Ship (2010) album. But their add three songs from their latest album Where The Corpses Sink Forever (2012) album to their set (Lingering In An Imprint Haunting, Spectral Infantry Battalions, and Bitte Tötet Mich)

It was good show, at a packed venue for being a Sunday night. The reception that Carach Angren got was so extensive and so deep that even after the band got off stage, the crowd keep singing their songs for a good 3 to 4 minutes. It was something cool to see. After their set they came by their merch table and took pictures with fans, signed albums, posters for as long as people were coming, which was a good 30 minutes or so. They were really receptive to people, and interacted with everyone that came to checked them out.

Overall, it was a great début show for a band that many of us thought we would never see touring the US. Before their show The Age Of Metal hooked up with Ardek (keyboards) of Carach Angren, we talked about their North American  début tour, the fan response to it, their upcoming album, and what is next for Carach Angren for the rest of the year, and part of 2015.
