Anneke Van Giersbergen has reached a musical level where not other female metal vocalist has ever dare to go. Her new album Drive is colorful and full of musical textures that projects the moment that Anneke is living as a solo musician.
Drive is the 5th solo studio album by Anneke Van Giersbergen, the album is not only colorful and dynamic, but it has a life on its own. Songs like You Will Never Change, Treat Me Like A lady, My Mother Said, and Forgive Me are some of the most deep and organic songs I have listened in a long time. While the musical side of the album is quite bombastic and catchy which suits Anneke’s voice quite nice, the lyrical aspect is just vivid and real as you can get.
In the other side of the album, we have songs like Drive, We Live On, Shooting For The Stars, and The Best Is Yet To Come which are lyrically positive and talked about daily emotions and moments. The album comes across as a series of personal experiences and living situations that each of us had lived at some point of our lives. Drive, presents itself as the best Anneke Van Giersbergen solo album yet, very powerful, musical appealing, and very colorful lyrically speaking.
The Age Of Metal cached up with Anneke Van Giersbergen during her stop at Metal Female Voices Festival in Belgium last month, as that was her début at this prestigious metal festival. We talked about her experience writing Drive, her expectations about MFVF, her US mini tour, her upcoming show at Progressive Nation At Sea 2014, and what is in storage for her.
