Krisun has been the best example of Brazilian Death Metal since their creation back in the early 90’s. Formed by brothers vocalist/bassist Alex Camargo, guitarist Moyses Kolesne and drummer Max Kolesne, with a back catalog of eight full studio albums. They along with Sepultura have kept the name of Brazil as one of the highest producers of extreme metal in the last 20 years.
Their style draws from Morbid Angel, Kreator and Slayer, but their sound was crafted in a more raw and unique way that represents the region, and puts the idea of death metal in a different prospective. They had toured the world many times along with international acts like Unleashed, Grave, Rotting Christ and Vader. Most recently these Brazilian death metal legends took the responsibility of continuing a North American tour that was supposed to be headlined by Hypocrisy, but they had to withdraw out of it due to visa issues. However, they pull through like champions, and the tour was successful at the end of the day.
The Age Of Metal spoke with Alex Camargo of Krisiun, about the tour, the experience of being in a ‘band of brothers’, Brazilian metal, and what is next for Krisiun.
